Lani Tran

Lani grew up in Silver Spring, Maryland, and attended the University of Maryland, College Park, where she earned degrees in Neuroscience and Philosophy. Her interest in both how the brain works and the questions it raises about the mind and behavior led her to research on youth development and mental health.

At the Barzi Lab, Lani studies how digital technology use relates to child and adolescent development and mental health. Her work includes reviewing the literature, analyzing lab and clinical data, developing new study measures, and contributing to manuscripts, presentations, and ongoing lab projects.

Lani hopes to build expertise in working with large pediatric datasets, strengthen her skills in study design and statistical analysis, and grow into an independent researcher working where digital technology meets neurodevelopment. Outside the lab, she enjoys watching movies, taking walks in the park, and trying new foods.
